"The Shrine" Earns 1.2 Average Household Rating

At first I was unsure of what the hell was going on. This episode had comedic moments and dramatic moments, and overall delivers another quality chapter of the Stargate franchise.
The sixth episode of Stargate Atlantis Season Five stayed even with the previous week. "The Shrine" earned a 1.2 average household rating for the SCI-FI Channel when it premiered on August 22, the network announced this week.

This ties "Ghost In the Machine", and is just one-tenth of a point below the season-high rating of 1.3 earned by "Search and Rescue" and "The Daedalus Variations". The new season has remained more steady than usual in the ratings game, and typically makes great gains later in the week from DVR viewing.

Also on SCI FI's list of top shows for the week were Eureka, with a 1.8 rating, Ghost Hunters International (1.6), and ECW wrestling (1.5).

Another all-new episode of Stargate Atlantis airs this Friday on SCI FI in the United States! Tune in for "The Queen" at 10 p.m. (9 Central).

SG-1 Novel Trilogy to Pack In Season Arc

Steven Saville, author of numerous sci-fi/fantasy series, has shed more light on his forthcoming SG-1 trilogy in an interview with Gateworld.net.
Here are a few of the highlights from the interview:

Things start off with a bang -- Tok'ra agents being compromised, a search and rescue that goes hideously wrong, and a time shift that drops our heroes in a world tearing itself apart from the inside out. It is a quite dark story in places, I freely admit, but it (hopefully) isn't preachy. It's a trilogy: 'Shadows,' 'Shapeshifter,' and 'Trickster,' which the astute reader will spot immediately as being part of the archetypal characters of the monomyth -- a big hint, right there.

What we've done is basically plot out an entire season arc in the trilogy, so instead of getting an extra episode we're offering up enough thrills, danger, excitement, humor, and story for an entire season -- and with a limitless special effects budget. So we're talking some fun, as well.

The first book is set to be released in early 2009. You can pre-order on Amazon here.

Alex Levine talks The Queen

Alex Levine talks about upcoming Stargate Atlantis Episode "The Queen" on the Atlantis blog at SciFi. Sheppard's team accompanies Todd the Wraith on a mission to negotiate an alliance with another hive. Airs Friday September 12, 2008 on SciFi

This is the way it went down. I was in my office, doing my office-ey type stuff (yep, paperwork galore) and the writers were in Paul’s office trying to drum up a story idea. But there was only silence. And it’s a bit strange when five particularly ingenious guys sit in a room thinking together silently... it usually means they’re stumped for the time being. Then they started spinning again. Then another long period of silence, and then I heard my name. “Hey Alex, what was that story idea you pitched about a hive summit?” I searched my computer for the written pitch I’d made several years ago, printed it out, and in seconds I was reading it aloud to the guys in the room.

Teal'c Visits Stargate Worlds Studios

The worlds team had a little visit from Teal'c.

Actor Christopher Judge (Teal'c) stopped by Stargate Worlds Studios this week meet the team and check out the progress of the game. Judge, who is a gamer himself, let us know at Comic Con that he was up for a tour of the Studios and of course, we welcomed him with open arms... Here are quotes from some of the developers who got to meet Chris this week:

"So yeah. I wouldn't have thought I was the type to get embarrassed and feel like a blushing teenage girl (no offense to blushing teenage girls) when meeting a star like Christopher Judge but apparently I totally am."

"I thought he was pretty awesome, and just a down to earth guy who is fun to be around."

"He was inquisitive, encouraging, and laughed a lot. You got the sense that he was genuine and really enjoyed not just what he does, but what we are doing."

"Our Jaffa Jim P. is taller then SG-1's Jaffa."

"He's a super nice guy and seems SUPER excited about the game... he was very interested in what everyone had to say and show."

"He really brought a feeling of camaraderie everywhere he went, his genuine personality really made him feel like a part of the team."

"Man has style!"
